Hallo Leute,

ich hab ein komisches Problem. Mein iMac mit der 1TB HDD war beim booten nie der schnellste, rannte aber immer nachdem er gestartet war. Ich hatte ihn früher täglich genutzt, und da ich mich beruflich verändert habe nutzte ich ihn sehr sehr lange nicht.

Mittlerweile dauert das laden auf der iMac eine Ewigkeit.

Sky Go braucht nach über 10min zum starten. Safari auch etwa 1min und die Spotlight suche nutze ich erst nach 10min, da die vorher auch nichts findet / macht.

Es lauft mittlerweile Mojave drauf, es kann sein, dass es mit den Vorgänger besser lief, kann mich aufgrund der Zeit nicht mehr so richtig erinnern.

Ich persönlich glaube das die HDD einen weg hat, aber laut Diagnose ist alles super. Habt ihr Tipps, was ich nun machen kann? oder welche Tests ich machen kann?

Es ist unglaublich frustrierend. Und ich verstehe das auch nicht, ich war so happy mit dem iMac aber irgendwie nimmt er mir die lange nicht Nutzung sehr sehr übel.

Edith sagt also Speed der HDD scheint grundsätzlich da zu sein.

92MB schreiben / 106 Lesen kann die Platte.

Was ich außerdem sehr komisch finde, das ein Kumpel von mir mit genau den gleichen Mac das gleiche Problem hat, der ist noch auf High Sierra, und auch sein iMac war länge Zeit ohne Nutzung.

EtreCheck erst mal gute Idee - man muss aber auch einfach sagen, dass die verbauten iMac HDDs mit 5400U/min und den miserablen Raten eine der langsamsten auf dem Markt sind...

eine HDD ist in einem Desktoprechner total veraltete Technik, würde eine SSD einbauen, oder das System auf eine externe SSD installieren.

Da hast du absolut Recht, ist doch aber kein Grund das der iMac nur noch 5% von seinen 100% liefert. Das die 100% eines iMac mit HDD in SSD gerechnet bei nur 60% liegt ist klar.

Aber der Mac ist so langsam als wäre die HDD tot und ich würde recovern mit einer Software. Nur das alles auf i.O. steht. :(

Hi,
bis auf den Adobe Flashplayer ist kein Software Problem ersichtlicht, tippe auf ein Hardware Problem, eventuell ist die HDD defekt, DriveDX tryout runterladen und die HDD damit testen und das Ergebniss hier Posten.

Klingt nach 1 Tag Time Machine Backup dann Clean Install und hoffe das alles besser ist. Hardware defekt scheint ja einfach nicht da zu sein.

EtreCheck hat selbst bemerkt, dass das System langsam ist. So weit, so schlecht. Dazu kommt - mir ist nicht wirklich klar, woran das liegen könnte. Übliches Problem, Du schriebst es, ist die Festplatte, aber die sieht zumindest oberflächlich von den Transferraten gut aus.

Man könnte
-vollen Laufwerkszugriff für EtreCheck in Einstellungen/Sicherheit/Datenschutz geben und den Report erstellen
-SMART-Attribute auslesen und posten
-die Software neu installieren, sauber

das ist das einzige, was mir auffällt. Muss nichts heißen und es sollte auch nicht schlimm sein, aber eigentlich sollten seit etlichen Jahren schon alle Festplatten auch mit SATA3 (6GBit/s) laufen. Wobei auch wieder keine Ultra DMA CRC Fehler zu finden sind.

das ist in der Tat die einzige Hypothese, die ich habe:
Der freie Speicher wird von macOS selbst verwaltet und dazu ist ein eingeschaltetes Time Machine notwendig. Und ein APFS, das nicht gut in dem Sinne verwaltet ist, kann auf elektromechanischen Festplatten sehr langsam werden.

Ich würde empfehlen, ein neues macOS sauber zu installieren. Idealerweise die bisherige Festplatte löschend. Und danach bitte, falls das half, Time Machine anschalten - das sollte man ohnehin.

Ich würde eine externe SSD für das Betriebssystem verwenden. Die gibt es für relativ kleines Geld - 128 GB würden ja schon reichen - und die interne HDD lässt sich als Speicher ja weiter verwenden für die größeren Dateien. Egal, ob mit der HDD alles in Ordnung ist oder sie aus irgendwelchen Gründen besonders langsam läuft - eine SSD lohnt in jedem Fall.

Allerdings reizen nicht alle SSDs die maximal mögliche Geschwindigkeit über USB3 aus. Ich habe gute Erfahrungen mit Samsung-SSDs gemacht, 500 GB kosten ab ca. 85€ (Modell T5).

Nun, der Kumpel hat High Sierra drauf und die Festplatte ist mit Journaled HFS+ formatiert. Du hast Mojave drauf und die Platte ist mit APFS formatiert. Ich habe das nicht mehr richtig im Gedächtnis, aber APFS auf normalen HDs soll ziemlich langsam sein. Außerdem dachte ich, dass drehende Festplatten nicht mit APFS formatiert werden. Kann mich aber täuschen.
APFS ist auf SSDs zugeschnitten. Also entweder Downgrade auf High Sierra und Format Journaled HFS+ oder eine SSD anschaffen.

Und du kannst mal nachsehen, was die Aktivitätsanzeige unter CPU so anzeigt (bitte unter "Darstellung" "Alle Prozessen" anhaken und die Spalte "% CPU" absteigend sortieren).

APFS und mechanische Platte ist keine gute Idee. Nur mal das Forum oder Internet durchsuchen - das führt immer zu einem langsamen System...

APFS und HDD gab es mal was, das stimmt. Das OS Upgrade hat diesen Schritt damals durchgeführt.

Ich hatte gestern noch das Windows 10 via Bootcamp gestartet, das lief eigentlich wie es soll. (gut, natürlich nicht SSD Niveau)

Heute dann noch Flash deinstalliert und dann war noch ein Safari 14 Update, welches sogar Updates noch beim Booten eingespielt hat.

Ich muss das jetzt noch testen, aber es scheint als das seit dem Update der iMac wieder aus den puschen kommt.
Hoffe das es das jetzt ist.

Nichts desto trotz hab ich die Idee mit der externe SSD mit genommen, gerade der Aufwand für den Einbau fand ich immer hämmernd. Aber mit einer externen SSD gäbe es da eine auch bezahlbare Möglichkeit.

Erklärlich ist das alles für mich nicht.
